Woke up this morning with an ax in my brow
It was a painful reminder I'd forgotten 'til just now
But there she is—damn!—what the hell did I do?
Been there once or twice before, but how I got here, I don't have a clue
It's a unique thing in the early morning light
But I'm meandering back that same way tonight
I'm not the kind of guy
Who regularly learns his lesson
"Last night was fun," she said; "Mm-hmm, okay, whatever you say"
"Do this again sometime?" "That's fine, just one thing— What's your name?"
It's awkward, but it was probably fun
Wish I could remember 'cause now all I know's the damage has been done
It's a unique thing, but it happens all the time
And, no, I'm not bragging, but at least I won't go blind
I can't stop it, oh I've tried
But it's fairly well become an obsession
Offered me breakfast, but I can't; "I really have to go"
"Maybe just coffee" "Wish I could, but still the answer's no"
She's talking; I'm speeding her towards the end
"I've got an early meeting" "How 'bout one more throw?" And here we go again
It's a unique thing; there's nothing else compares to it
It's got me wondering if maybe I'm just sick
It's a good thing I'm not Catholic
Or I'd have about a month of confession
It's a unique, but it happens all the time
And, no, I'm not bragging, but at least I won't go blind
I'm not the kind of guy
Who regularly learns his lesson
